SHM Classic Motors, LLC Alameda Point Concours d’Elegance

A concours d’elégance, or “competition of elegance” in French, is a gathering of high-end or classic cars that are judged on the quality of their appearance.

Competitions take place throughout the United States and Europe and trace their origins back to 17th-century France, when aristocrats would parade horse-drawn carriages in the parks of Paris during the summer and on holidays.

The event at Alameda Point will showcase Camaro and Porsche that will be their featured marques.

About 130 cars will take part in the competition. An additional 100 cars or so will be on display.

The show, the be held Sunday June 11, 2017, will benefit Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter  (FAAS) and the Alameda Police Foundation.

FAAS was founded in 2009 by a small group of volunteers dedicated to raising funds for medical care for the animals at the Alameda Animal Shelter. In 2011, the volunteer group expanded to launch a “Save Our Shelter” campaign when city budget cuts were forcing the closure of the shelter. After several months of discussions with city officials, FAAS took over the management of the Alameda Shelter on January 1, 2012. The group expanded again and there are now 9 full and part-time staff and over 100 volunteers providing daily care to the more than 60 animals at the shelter. FAAS is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of individuals who either live or work in Alameda.

The Alameda Police Foundation aims at improving the lives of underprivileged youth in the City of Alameda. Through donations, fundraisers and grants, we are able to provide gifts, clothing, meals and financial assistance to underprivileged youth. During the holiday season, the Foundation hosts, “Shop-with-a-Cop,” where underprivileged youth are partnered with a uniformed police officer and given gift cards to spend at one of our local businesses. The Alameda Police Foundation provides education grants for underprivileged youth who need financial assistance for tuition, tutors, and extra-curricular activities. The Foundation is also proud to work with Alameda-based organizations who aim at providing assistance to underprivileged youth by offering financial support.

The Alameda Police Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3). Tax ID: #47-3253277.
