Live entertainment on the Island

Altarena Playhouse

Altarena Playhouse is located at 1409 High Street and is the only theatre-in-theround in the San Francisco Bay area. The nonprofit organization has entertained the Island City and its surrounding communities since 1939. 510-523-1553

Alameda Ballet Academy

Alameda Ballet Academy and its performing company, Alameda Civic Ballet, were founded in 2003 by the artistic director, Abra Rudisill. Both were created to impart the best elements of the classical ballet tradition to local dance students. Rudisill draws upon 20 years of experience asa prima ballerina and ballet mistress with Oakland Ballet, and she seeks to carry on her artistic lineage through the education of Bay Area youth.  Call for details ~ 510-337-1929

Kiwanis Club of Alameda Chili Cook -Off

Earth Day Festival

Learn about building a clean, healthy, diverse world for future generations at this free event at Washington Park. Bike To The Movies Day

May, the biking community is encouraged to ride their bicycle to the theater during “Ride Your Bike Week.” Bike group discounts available in advance.

Park Street Spring Festival

May~Held to celebrate Spring and Mother’s Day, the two-day annual Park Street Spring Festival takes place in May each year and offers fun for the whole family in the Park Street Shopping District.

Concerts at the Cove

Concerts at the Cove take place on the second Friday of June, July and August at 5:30 p.m. at Alameda’s Crab Cove at Crown Memorial State Beach. The free evening performances are open to the public.

Annual Sand Castle and Sand Sculpture Contest

Mayor’s 4th of July Parade

Every year Alameda residents join together to celebrate Independence Day with our spectacular annual Mayor’s Fourth of July Parade, one of the oldest parades in the nation. The parade starts at 10 am at Lincoln and Park Street, and concludes around noon at Washington Park (Central and 8th Street).

Meals on Wheels Annual Community Faire Food and Wine Tasting Fundraiser

Always the 3rd Sunday of July, this community event features tastings from over 20 local restaurant, 20 local wineries, a silent auction, a children's play area complete with Jumper and live entertainment with local musicians, 3 O'Clock Jump.  Over 2,000 people attend this biggest event in Alameda.  Come and see why!

Park Street Art & Wine Faire

July each year the Park Street Art & Wine Faire includes more vendors, musicians, kids’ rides, and fun than the previous

Neptune Beach Community Celebration-Formerly the Webster Street Jam Festival

October~ the Alameda Chamber in cooperation with the West Alameda Business Association hosts the annual Community Celebration on historic Webster Street.  Live music from many different genres provides entertainment for all ages. Food, wine, handcrafted art and a special kids area make the festival a fun-filled day for the whole family (westalamedaabusiness.com/events).
