Quality of life

Health and Well-Being

Our idea of a healthy community focuses on allowing the people in the community to celebrate and live life to its fullest. State of the art medical equipment and technology will permit the community to care for their critical needs and to get care here in our community. Experienced and caring physicians, nurses and caregivers are at the heart of our current health care system. We believe that affordable, accessible health care is very important to the families that choose to live in our community now and in the future.

Public Safety and Welfare

Today, more than ever, security is critical to our economic development and growing tourism activities. Feeling safe and secure in our own community is vital to making our destination the region’s most diverse and hospitable visitor destinations. The Leaders in our community continue to seek to develop new programs to effectively prevent crime. Our ongoing efforts to strengthening our neighborhoods, investing in our youth, coordinate and share information will assist us in attaining our vision for a safer community.

Environment

The health of our environment affects everyone. The environment is the very foundation of our community’s well being. Our investment in making a difference is as simple as making positive changes to protect our environment. Our efforts to protect our natural assets for future generations focus on reducing waste by recycling, being more energy efficient, and reducing water consumption in our homes and businesses. Our community efforts are making positive progress to protect and provide a healthy environment for future generations.

Boating

Alameda boasts a number of yacht clubs, including the Alameda Yacht Club and the Encinal Yacht Club. The AYC was founded in 1985 and provides membership for both sail and power boats. The clubhouse is in historic Fortman Marina, once home to the Alaska Packers Fishing Company. The EYC, founded in 1890, is the third oldest club on the San Francisco Bay and seeks to promote yachting. It’s on the Alameda side of the Oakland Estuary in Marina Village.
